For the same 200 pages a month with a signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA), FaxTerra's Business plan plus its HIPAA add-on is $14.98 and Fax Pigeon's Basic plan is $5.99, or $4.99 billed annually. At 1,000 pages it is $34.98 against $17.99. FaxTerra's free tier, page packs and plans without the add-on carry no BAA, so faxing patient information there starts at $9.98 a month for 50 pages. Every Fax Pigeon plan includes one.

How much does FaxTerra cost with a BAA?

FaxTerra's HIPAA page prices each plan with the add-on included: Starter + HIPAA is $9.98 a month for 50 pages, Business + HIPAA is $14.98 for 200 pages and Pro + HIPAA is $34.98 for 1,000. Fax Pigeon has plans at 200 and 1,000 pages, so those two compare like for like.

FaxTerra's annual figure is its annual plan plus its annual add-on: Business is $99.99 a year, Pro is $299.99, and the add-on is $49.99 a year on top of either. At 200 pages FaxTerra's price is 2.5 times Basic's, month to month and billed annually. Basic costs $90.10 a year less than Business + HIPAA, and Plus costs $146.10 a year less than Pro + HIPAA.

Before the add-on, FaxTerra's Business plan is already $9.99 a month and its Pro plan $29.99. Basic is $5.99 and Plus is $17.99, with the BAA included.

Does FaxTerra's free plan include a BAA?

No. FaxTerra's pricing page says: 'HIPAA compliance with a signed BAA is a $4.99/mo add-on on any subscription.' Its help center says: 'Without the add-on, no plan includes a BAA.' The free tier, the page packs and the $4.99 Starter plan carry no BAA on their own. HIPAA's business associate rules call for a written agreement with a vendor that receives, stores or transmits a practice's patient information (45 CFR 160.103, 164.502(e) and 164.504(e)).

What are FaxTerra's Healthcare Solo, Practice and Group plans?

They are listed in FaxTerra's llms.txt file, the summary it publishes for AI tools: Healthcare Solo at $19.99 a month for 300 pages, Healthcare Practice at $39.99 for 1,000 and Healthcare Group at $79.99 for 2,500. FaxTerra's pricing, HIPAA and help pages do not list those plans. Those pages sell HIPAA as the $4.99 add-on above.

At the llms.txt prices Fax Pigeon is lower at every size. Standard covers 500 pages for $11.99 a month, or $9.99 billed annually, against $19.99 for 300. Plus covers 1,000 pages for $17.99 against $39.99. For 2,500 pages, Pro is $33.99 for 2,000 pages plus 3.5¢ for each page after that, $51.49 at most, and Premium is $59.99 for 5,000 pages, against $79.99.

What happens when you reach the page limit?

At FaxTerra, sending stops. There is no overage charge, and the help center says what happens instead: 'Sending simply stops when you run out of pages until you buy more, subscribe, or your monthly pages refill.' For received faxes it says: 'Faxes that arrive at your own number beyond your allowance still reach your inbox but wait to be opened until your pages refill.' A referral that arrives after the limit waits unopened.

Fax Pigeon bills extra pages at the plan's rate on a separate invoice, 10¢ on Basic and 4¢ on Plus. Faxes keep arriving past the page budget.

FaxTerra's HIPAA page lists no plan above 1,000 pages: 'Need more than 1,000 pages a month? Talk to us and we'll put a plan together for you.' Fax Pigeon's Pro plan is 2,000 pages for $33.99 a month, 99 cents less than FaxTerra's 1,000-page Pro + HIPAA at $34.98. Premium is 5,000 pages and Max is 10,000.

Who should switch from FaxTerra?

Three kinds of FaxTerra account should switch.

• A practice on a FaxTerra Healthcare plan, meaning a plan plus the HIPAA add-on. At 200 pages that is $14.98 a month for what Basic includes at $5.99. At 1,000 pages it is $34.98 for what Plus includes at $17.99.
• A practice on a FaxTerra plan without the add-on. FaxTerra's help center says no plan includes a BAA without it. Basic puts a signed BAA on the account at $5.99 a month.
• A practice that needs more than 1,000 pages a month. FaxTerra's HIPAA page says 'Talk to us'; Pro, Premium and Max are priced on the pricing page, and upgrades take effect right away, prorated.

Switch in this order: start the port at Fax Pigeon from Settings while the FaxTerra account is open, then cancel FaxTerra once the number lands. FaxTerra's terms say: 'When a subscription ends, the dedicated fax number is released.'
