Fax Pigeon vs WestFax

Five hundred pages a month is $9.99 billed annually at Fax Pigeon and $14.99, monthly only, at WestFax. WestFax charges $20 to bring your number in, keeps your faxes for about sixty days, and takes cancellations by phone. Fax Pigeon ports free in both directions, keeps your records for the life of your account, and cancels from Settings. Both plans carry a signed Business Associate Agreement; the differences are everywhere else.

What WestFax's own pages say

• No annual billing. Every WestFax tier is "billed monthly." There is no discounted annual rate to compare against; $14.99 is the only Solo price. Fax Pigeon's $9.99 is the annual rate, and the monthly rate is still lower at $11.99.
• $20 to bring your number. The pricing FAQ: "$20 one-time port fee on Solo and Team." The same $20 applies to a newly provisioned number. Fax Pigeon provisions your number and ports an existing one at no charge, in either direction.
• Sixty days of storage. The pricing page lists "Fax retention, Solo: 2 mo. standard," and the terms set retention at "approximately sixty (60) days after the message is received or sent or until the customer's account is terminated, whichever occurs first." Records requests, court matters and payer audits reach back further than sixty days. Fax Pigeon keeps every fax for the life of your account, encrypted, and deletion happens only when you ask for it.
• Cancellation by phone. WestFax's pricing page says "cancel whenever you like"; its terms say service "may be canceled and terminated by calling WestFax Customer Service" and that calling "must be complied with before termination is effective." Fax Pigeon cancels from Settings, effective at period end.
• The word refund does not appear in WestFax's terms. Fax Pigeon offers a full refund within 72 hours of your first subscription.
• One number, hard cap, on Solo. WestFax Solo cannot add a second number. Every Fax Pigeon plan puts unlimited people on one number and one inbox, from $4.99, no per-seat and no per-number fees.
• The API and 24/7 support are Enterprise-only at WestFax. Every Fax Pigeon plan gets the same product.

Who should switch

A solo practice, a small clinic, a billing company, or a law office on WestFax Solo or Team is paying a monthly-only price for a sixty-day archive and a number that cost $20 to bring in. At 500 pages, Fax Pigeon's Standard plan (500 pages) is the same page count for a third less, with a permanent archive, free porting both ways, and the same product on every plan.
