Is Notifyre HIPAA compliant? BAA and pricing
Notifyre provides a BAA on request, and its HIPAA page says it is free. At 100 pages sent and 100 received, Notifyre costs $7.90 a month, against $4.99 at Fax Pigeon Basic billed annually.

Notifyre can carry patient information under a signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA), which it provides on request and, according to its HIPAA page, at no extra cost. At 100 pages sent and 100 received, a practice pays $7.90 a month at Notifyre against $4.99 at Fax Pigeon Basic billed annually.
The $7.90 is Notifyre's Plus plan, $4.90 for 200 received pages, plus 3 cents for each page sent from a prepaid wallet. Fax Pigeon sells HIPAA fax as well, and its BAA is executed at signup on every plan.
Does Notifyre sign a BAA, and what does it cost?
Yes, on request, and free according to Notifyre's HIPAA page. A help article dated November 6, 2025 names three ways to ask: live chat on Notifyre's site, a phone line for US callers and a support request. It names no plan and no price. The HIPAA page fills that gap: the agreement costs nothing extra for healthcare organizations that handle patient information, at every plan level. A practice asks for it while signing up, and Notifyre says it arranges the signing before the first fax. The security page calls the agreement complimentary and offers it to HIPAA covered entities.
Notifyre's blog, updated May 21, 2026, says the BAA is offered for its fax and text-messaging services, and the HIPAA page says it covers integrations through the fax API. None of these pages links the agreement itself. 45 CFR 164.502(e) asks a covered entity to document a business associate's assurances in a written contract, and an explainer covers when a fax service counts as one. Online fax services that sign a BAA shows how other services hand theirs over.
What do Notifyre's terms say about patient information?
Notifyre's terms and conditions, last modified November 21, 2025, name HIPAA once, in clause 18.13's list of privacy laws the company is committed to following. They never mention a BAA, a business associate or protected health information.
Four clauses bear on a practice's records:
- Clause 14.5 has the customer acknowledge that Notifyre "acts solely as a transmission conduit."
- Clauses 14.17 and 18.8 have Notifyre display and store fax content in the customer's account for the period in Notifyre Service Specifications, or one the customer selects. The terms page does not link that document, and the security page describes lifetime storage of messages.
- Clause 18.8 also disclaims responsibility for any failure of retention, including storing or deleting faxes.
- Clause 14.12 makes the customer responsible for turning on security settings and disclaims liability for risks from Auto Delete.
A BAA has to address the information at termination: 45 CFR 164.504(e)(2)(ii)(J) requires its return or destruction where feasible.
What does Notifyre cost for a practice that sends and receives?
Notifyre prices the two directions apart. Its US pricing page lists four receive plans, billed monthly, each with one fax number: Plus at $4.90 for 200 received pages, Pro at $7.90 for 500, Business at $14.90 for 1,000 and Premium at $39.90 for 3,000. Sending is 3 cents a page, 25% more at high quality, drawn from a prepaid wallet that takes a $10 minimum top-up. Notifyre's prices exclude tax.
| Notifyre Plus | Fax Pigeon Basic | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly price | $4.90, billed monthly | $4.99 billed annually, or $5.99 month to month |
| Pages the plan covers | 200 received | 200 sent and received together |
| Sending | 3 cents a page from the wallet | Within the same 200 pages |
| 100 pages sent and 100 received | $7.90 ($4.90 plus $3.00) | $4.99 billed annually, or $5.99 month to month |
| Signed BAA | On request, free, every plan level | At signup, every plan |
Plans are prepaid by credit card under Notifyre's terms, and sending and extra received pages come out of the wallet. A practice that starts with both pays at least $14.90 in month one, the plan plus the $10 minimum. Pages left unused when the cycle ends are lost, and the pricing page says received pages past the allowance can be blocked once the wallet runs short. At Fax Pigeon, a fax still arrives after the page budget is spent, and the extra pages go on a separate invoice at the plan's rate.
What can a new Notifyre account send before it is verified?
Up to 100 fax pages in all, until Notifyre verifies the account. A help article dated November 3, 2025 describes three checks: email, phone and a welcome call that asks for the legal business name, an EIN or other registration details and the business website. It says the manual review can take 48 to 72 hours.
Who should switch from Notifyre?
- A practice that sends and receives in the same month. Notifyre meters received pages in the plan and sent pages in the wallet, so each page sent adds 3 cents to the $4.90, and Fax Pigeon counts both in one 200-page total.
- A practice that wants the BAA in place at signup. Fax Pigeon executes it then on every plan, and a new Notifyre account sends no more than 100 pages until its manual check clears.
- A practice that wants a refund window. Notifyre's terms refund no wallet funds and no receive plan (clauses 13.1 and 13.2), and Fax Pigeon gives a full refund within 72 hours of the first payment, once per customer.
- A practice that may move its number. Notifyre's terms say a porting fee may apply when a number is ported away (clause 5.14.5), and Fax Pigeon charges nothing to port a number out. How to port a fax number before you cancel gives the order.
What would change this answer?
A refusal to sign would change the verdict, and so would a signed text that narrows what the fax service covers. A new price changes the table, and clause 12.2 lets Notifyre set one at any time without prior notice.
* Prices last verified October 7, 2026, at each provider's own site. Fax Pigeon is not affiliated with Notifyre.
