RingCentral prices fax per user, so a practice of five people faxing 500 pages a month pays $114.95 a month on the annual plan for Fax 3000. The same practice pays Fax Pigeon $9.99 a month billed annually for Standard, with unlimited people. On monthly billing the five pay RingCentral $139.95 and Fax Pigeon $11.99. RingCentral's Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is available to paying covered-entity customers as an attachment to its Master Services Agreement, and its recurring services renew automatically unless notice is given at least 30 days before the term ends. Fax Pigeon's BAA is executed at signup on every plan.

How much does RingCentral Fax cost for a practice?

RingCentral's Fax 3000 plan is $27.99 per user a month, or $22.99 per user on the annual plan. It includes 3,000 pages per user a month and charges 4.9¢ for each page after that. The monthly price is the per-user price times the people on the account. A Fax Pigeon plan is priced on pages alone, because people are unlimited on every plan.

Over a year, three people on RingCentral's annual plan pay $827.64 and five pay $1,379.40, against $119.88 for Fax Pigeon's Standard plan at 500 pages. At 2,000 pages Pro is $359.88 a year. Two people at 2,000 pages pay RingCentral $45.98 a month on the annual plan against Pro's $29.99. At 500 pages Fax Pigeon costs less than RingCentral at every practice size, and at 2,000 pages it costs less from two people up.

Does RingCentral Fax include a BAA?

RingCentral's HIPAA overview says it 'makes available a business associate agreement (BAA) for our paying Covered Entity customers,' and lists RingCentral Fax among the services the BAA covers. The BAA is a separate document headed 'ATTACHMENT,' made 'pursuant to the RingCentral Master Services Agreement' and 'effective as of the execution date of this BAA.'

At Fax Pigeon the BAA is part of signup. It is executed on every plan, and the free first fax, one fax of up to 10 pages with no credit card, falls under it. The agreement is at faxpigeon.com/baa. The HIPAA Privacy Rule calls for a written contract or agreement between a covered entity and a business associate that creates, receives, maintains or transmits its patient information (45 CFR 164.502(e) and 164.504(e)).

Does RingCentral Fax renew automatically?

Yes, under RingCentral's Terms of Service, which say: 'recurring Services will automatically renew for successive periods of the same length as the Initial Term' unless 'either Party gives notice of non-renewal at least thirty (30) days before the expiration of the Initial Term or the then-current Renewal Term.' A term of any length renews for another term of that length unless notice is given at least 30 days before it ends.

Fax Pigeon cancels any time in Settings, with service kept to the end of the paid period. A full refund is available within 72 hours of the first payment, once per customer.

What does every Fax Pigeon plan include?

Every plan includes unlimited people on one shared inbox with roles and assignment and a signed BAA executed at signup, and on the pricing page the six plans differ in page budget and extra-page rate alone.

Who should switch from RingCentral Fax?

Three kinds of RingCentral Fax account should switch.

• A practice with two or more people. Each person adds $22.99 to $27.99 a month on Fax 3000. At Fax Pigeon the whole practice shares one plan, with a shared inbox with roles and assignment.
• A practice that buys fax alone and wants the BAA executed at signup. RingCentral's BAA is an attachment available to paying customers.
• A practice that wants no notice date to track. RingCentral's terms ask for non-renewal notice at least 30 days before the term ends. Fax Pigeon cancels any time in Settings.
