The BAA: Signed, or requested

SRFax's healthcare page says: "Need us to sign a Business Associate Agreement? We are happy to work with organizations in the healthcare sector," and the link goes to a contact form. The agreement itself is not published, so you cannot read what it covers before you subscribe, and you cannot send patient information until the request comes back signed.

Fax Pigeon's BAA is part of signup. You accept it when you create your practice, it covers every plan including the free first send, and the full text is at for anyone to read, account or not. A billing company or a therapist who is a business associate of their clients does not wait on a form; the agreement exists the moment the account does.

SRFax's compliance page also states it is "the only HIPAA-compliant fax for healthcare that will sign a Business Associate Agreement." Several providers sign one. We include it on every plan.

What SRFax's terms say about your number and your money

From SRFax's terms of service:

  • The number is not yours. "You agree that you are not the owner of any SRFax Number," and on termination SRFax "may allocate any SRFax Numbers to another customer without reference to you." A practice number printed on letterhead and filed with payers is an asset; at Fax Pigeon it ports in free and ports out free.
  • Cancellation may require a phone call. Notice from the customer "may include the requirement that you contact SRFax by phone to confirm." Fax Pigeon cancels from Settings.
  • Fees on the edges. A $40 charge for each reversed or cancelled payment, and overdue balances accrue interest at 2 percent a month. Refunds are processed within 35 days of cancellation.
  • Plan changes go through support. SRFax's own FAQ says upgrades and downgrades are made "by submitting the Contact Us form." Fax Pigeon upgrades apply immediately from Settings, with proration.

What every Fax Pigeon plan includes that SRFax sells separately or not at all

  • A signed BAA on every plan, public before you sign up.
  • An AI summary of every inbound fax the moment it lands.
  • E-signatures, cover sheets, and contact management built in; no printer driver, no Windows-only download utility.
  • A delivery certificate for every fax with date, time, page count and a confirmation ID.
  • Unlimited people on every plan, from $4.99 a month, sharing one number and one inbox, no per-seat fees and no per-number fees.
  • Our own fax servers carry every call; documents are never handed to a third-party fax provider.
  • Send a fax by email on every paid plan: from your account's email address, mail one PDF to the recipient's number at fax.faxpigeon.com and it goes out as a fax from your own number.
  • Fax to email as a secure link: every received fax mails you the sender's number, the page count and a link, and the document stays behind your login.

Who should switch

A solo practice, a small clinic, a therapist, or a billing company buying 200 to 500 pages a month: the math is on this page. The same pages, the BAA already signed and public, your own number that stays yours, half the price.

Switching takes one step in the right order: start the port at Fax Pigeon from Settings while your SRFax account is still open, then cancel SRFax once the number lands. The order of operations is in Port your fax number before you cancel.
