An AI fax service costs $11.99 a month for 500 pages at Fax Pigeon, where every plan includes an AI summary of each inbound fax, and $29.99 at aiFax, whose Plus plan is the first on its pricing page to name an AI summary. Billed annually, Fax Pigeon's 500 pages are $9.99 a month. Both services sign a BAA at signup on every plan.

What does an AI fax plan cost by page count?

An AI fax service is an online fax service that also reads each incoming fax and writes a short summary of it. Each row below shows the smallest plan at each service that covers that many pages a month. Both count sent and received pages together, and every plan in the table includes a BAA signed at signup.

aiFax's pricing page says AI reads and summarizes every fax and starts its plans at $9.99, yet the list under Lite names no AI feature. AI summary and smart extraction first appear by name under Plus; Pro includes everything in Plus, and Enterprise everything in Pro. aiFax lists no annual price and charges 5¢ for each page past the allowance on every plan. Fax Pigeon charges 10¢ on Basic, 5¢ on Standard, 4¢ on Plus and 3.5¢ on Pro.

At 500 pages Fax Pigeon costs $18.00 a month less, or $216 a year. Billed annually, the gap is $240 a year. At 1,000 pages it is $27.00 a month. Fax Pigeon Pro covers 2,000 pages for less than aiFax Enterprise charges for 1,500.

What does a 700-page month cost?

Faxes keep arriving past the page budget, and Fax Pigeon bills the extra pages at the plan's rate on a separate invoice: at renewal on a monthly plan, every 30 days on an annual one. At 700 pages a month the better buy is Fax Pigeon Plus, $17.99 for 1,000 pages or $16.99 billed annually, with no extra pages to pay for. On aiFax the same month is its Plus plan at $29.99 plus 200 extra pages at 5¢, which comes to $39.99. That is $22.00 more a month.

What does an AI add-on cost on top of your fax bill?

aiFax also sells forwarding plans for a practice that stays with its fax company and its number. The current service emails each incoming fax to an aiFax address as well, and the summary shows up in aiFax's dashboard. These plans cannot send. They are priced by pages received: Plus at $29.99 a month for 500, Pro at $44.99 for 1,000 and Enterprise at $69.99 for 1,500, billed monthly with no setup charge and 5¢ for each page past the allowance. aiFax says it only "receives a copy of each fax by email."

Does the add-on route add a second BAA?

HIPAA calls a company that creates, receives, maintains or transmits protected health information on a covered entity's behalf a business associate (45 CFR 160.103). A covered entity may let a business associate handle that information only with satisfactory assurances documented in a written agreement (45 CFR 164.502(e)).

The add-on route puts a copy of every forwarded fax with a second company, under a second agreement beside the fax company's own. aiFax provides its BAA electronically at signup. Fax Pigeon carries one signed BAA on every plan, executed at signup, and the AI summary is part of the plan. Online fax services that sign a BAA lists who signs one, and on which plans.

Can you keep your fax number and still get AI summaries?

Yes. A number ports in free on every paid plan and the AI summary comes with the plan; the old provider keeps receiving until the transfer lands, within 5 to 15 business days for most numbers, and port first, cancel second is the order.
