Does IntakeQ have fax?

IntakeQ sends faxes on credits, 10 free then $10 for 120, and receives them only through SRFax, which needs its own BAA. Fax Pigeon sends and receives 200 pages from $4.99 a month billed annually.

Yes, IntakeQ and PracticeQ send faxes: 10 free credits, then $10 for 120, one credit per page. Receiving takes SRFax, a separate company outside IntakeQ's BAA, from $12.60 a month. Fax Pigeon sends and receives 200 pages for $5.99 a month, or $4.99 billed annually, with the BAA signed at signup.

What fax does IntakeQ include?

The fax button sits inside the app and sends treatment notes, attached files, submitted intake forms and consent forms. Pages are paid for in credits, one per page. Each user gets 10 free, and the account owner or an admin buys more at $10 for 120 on the subscription's card. That is 8.3 cents a page. A cover sheet counts as a page, so a fax with one costs a credit more.

IntakeQ is the intake-forms plan, and its pricing page lists E-Faxing among its features. PracticeQ adds scheduling, payments, insurance billing and telehealth, keeps every IntakeQ feature, and is the name the help center uses when it describes fax.

Does IntakeQ receive faxes?

Not on credits. IntakeQ's fax permissions list viewing incoming faxes as an SRFax-only ability, and the credits article describes sending alone. That leaves the inbound half, which a practice does not control. Referrals and payer replies arrive at a number whatever the chart runs on, and Why do doctors still use fax? covers the reasons.

Receiving starts at SRFax, a fax company with its own sign-up. You open an SRFax account, take a fax number there, and enter the account details in IntakeQ's integration settings. Received faxes then show in a list inside IntakeQ. Staff assign each one to a client, and it is filed as a PDF attached to a note. IntakeQ's help center points frequent senders down this route rather than toward more credits.

Does IntakeQ's BAA cover the SRFax connection?

No. The help center says so in one clause: SRFax "does not fall into our Business Associate Agreement". It tells the practice to obtain SRFax's own BAA.

IntakeQ's own BAA is signed in the app by the account admin. SRFax's comes by request: the Request a BAA button on its plans pages opens a contact form with a Request a BAA topic.

Under HIPAA, a vendor that creates, receives, maintains or transmits a practice's patient information on its behalf is a business associate, and the assurances the practice obtains from it must be documented in a written agreement (45 CFR 160.103 and 164.502(e)). On the SRFax route that is two agreements with two companies for one fax workflow. Every Fax Pigeon plan includes a signed BAA, executed at signup, and a practice that sends and receives through Fax Pigeon signs one.

Fax Pigeon Standard500$11.99$9.99Yes

Every Fax Pigeon plan counts pages sent and received together and includes a signed BAA. Both SRFax plans come under SRFax's own BAA, by request. Faxes keep arriving on Fax Pigeon past the page budget, and extra pages are billed at the plan's rate: 10 cents on Basic, 5 cents on Standard.

Credits are sold only in $10 packs of 120, so 200 pages take two packs, $20, and 500 pages take five, $50. Even 60 pages take a $10 pack, more than twice Basic's $4.99 a month, billed annually, for 200.

SRFax's healthcare page prices Healthcare Lite at $12.60 a month, and the plans page it designed for IntakeQ prices MediPlan 500 at the same $12.60. At 500 pages, Standard is $11.99 against MediPlan 500's $12.60, and $9.99 against $10.70 billed annually.

IntakeQ and Fax Pigeon both start with 10 free pages. Fax Pigeon's free first fax carries up to 10 pages, needs no card and sits under the same signed BAA as the paid plans.

How does Fax Pigeon work beside IntakeQ?

Fax Pigeon does not connect to IntakeQ, and nothing needs connecting. The hand-off is a PDF in each direction.

To send, save the form, consent form or note as a PDF in IntakeQ, upload it in Fax Pigeon, enter the number and send. Faxing from your email works too. Every delivered fax gets a delivery certificate.

To receive, give referrers your Fax Pigeon number. Each inbound fax lands in the shared inbox with an AI summary, and a fax can be assigned to a teammate. Download the PDF and upload it to the client's Files tab in IntakeQ. Unlimited people come at no extra cost on every plan, so the whole team shares one number and one inbox.

Who should switch?

A practice that receives faxes. Credits cannot, so IntakeQ's answer is a second vendor and a second BAA. One Fax Pigeon plan sends and receives under one.

A practice that sends more than 60 pages in a month on credits. Past that point credits cost more than Basic billed annually, which covers 200.

A practice already running SRFax beside IntakeQ. Move the number first and cancel SRFax after it lands: the port is free on a paid plan, most take 5 to 15 business days, SRFax keeps receiving until then, and the port-first order lists the steps. SRFax's terms on number ownership are in Fax Pigeon vs SRFax.

* Prices last verified October 7, 2026, at each provider's own site. IntakeQ's help articles on credits and on SRFax were last updated October 28, 2025 and May 26, 2026. Fax Pigeon is not affiliated with IntakeQ, PracticeQ, SRFax or Consensus Cloud Solutions.

Frequently asked questions

Does IntakeQ have fax?
Yes, for sending. IntakeQ faxes forms, notes and attachments from inside the app on credits: 10 free, then $10 for 120, one credit per page. Receiving needs a separate SRFax account, from $12.60 a month, with its own BAA. Fax Pigeon sends and receives 200 pages for $5.99 a month, or $4.99 billed annually, with the BAA signed at signup.
Does IntakeQ receive faxes?
Only through SRFax. IntakeQ's fax permissions list viewing incoming faxes as an SRFax-only ability, and credits cover sending. A practice opens an SRFax account, takes a fax number there and connects the account in IntakeQ's settings. Received faxes then appear in a list inside IntakeQ, where staff assign each one to a client.
Is the IntakeQ SRFax integration HIPAA compliant?
IntakeQ's help center calls for SRFax's own BAA, because SRFax sits outside IntakeQ's. Under HIPAA, a vendor that handles a practice's patient information on its behalf is a business associate, and the assurances must be documented in a written agreement (45 CFR 160.103 and 164.502(e)). SRFax takes BAA requests through a contact form that its plans pages link to.
How much does faxing cost in IntakeQ?
Credits cost $10 for 120, or 8.3 cents a page, after 10 free, and a cover sheet takes a credit of its own. SRFax's plans page for IntakeQ accounts starts at $12.60 a month for 500 pages, or $10.70 billed annually. Fax Pigeon Basic is $5.99 a month, or $4.99 billed annually, for 200 pages sent and received.
What fax service works with IntakeQ?
Fax Pigeon works beside IntakeQ with no integration. Save a form, consent or note as a PDF in IntakeQ, send it from Fax Pigeon, and upload each received fax to the client's Files tab. Every plan includes a signed BAA executed at signup, your own fax number and free porting, from $4.99 a month billed annually.
Is IntakeQ the same as PracticeQ?
They are two plans from the same vendor. IntakeQ is the intake-forms plan, and PracticeQ adds scheduling, payments, insurance billing and telehealth while keeping every IntakeQ feature, according to IntakeQ's pricing page. That page lists E-Faxing on the IntakeQ plan, and the help center describes fax under the PracticeQ name.
