Yes, Jane App has fax, through a Documo license at $15 USD a month for 500 pages. Faxes go out from a patient's chart with a cover page and come in to a Documo workspace outside Jane, and Jane's guides list the license as a required add-on on every Jane plan in Canada and the United States. Fax Pigeon's Standard plan is $9.99 billed annually for 500 pages, with unlimited people and a signed BAA at signup.

What does the Documo license cost next to Fax Pigeon?

Jane's sign-up guide prices the license at $15 USD a month for 500 fax pages, 10 users, 3 fax numbers and 100 documents a month through Documo's intelligent document processing (IDP), then 25¢ each. Jane's pricing page checks Integrated Outbound Fax on the Balance, Practice and Thrive plans and prints no fee on that row, and its Integrations Hub guide calls the $15 a special rate for Jane users. Documo's own pricing page lists no $15 plan, and its Solo plan is $25 a month billed annually for 300 pages and one user. Fax Pigeon vs Documo sets all three of Documo's plans beside Fax Pigeon's.

Twelve months of the license cost $180. Twelve months of Standard cost $119.88 billed annually, or $143.88 month to month. Jane's fax-history guide leaves failed faxes out of the 500 and says no alert comes as the limit nears, so the running count sits in a Usage Report in the Documo portal.

How does fax work inside Jane?

Documo is the only fax integration among the 17 in Jane's directory. Jane and Documo announced the partnership on October 10, 2024. Documo's release says every Jane user could use the cloud fax feature from October 1, 2024.

Sending starts on a chart. A chart entry's drop-down menu has a Fax command, and a date range of entries or a whole Treatment Plan goes out as one fax. Staff at Practitioner or Front Desk access and above can send, and Practitioner (Limited) users cannot. Every outbound fax leaves from the Documo account's default number and sits in one Documo user's history, open to other users only with an Admin or Owner role.

Receiving is a second setup, apart from the API key that links Documo to Jane for sending. An Owner or Admin creates a Documo workspace, adds the fax numbers and links it to Jane. Each staff member who files documents then authorizes a Documo profile of their own, since a profile links to one Jane staff member only. Until then a received fax opens only in Documo. After it, IDP reads each document, and a staff member confirms the patient and sends the document across, where it lands in the chart as a draft entry to sign.

Filing needs an existing chart, so a new patient's first referral waits in the workspace until someone creates one in Jane. A fax filed to the wrong patient comes out of that chart in Jane and goes in again from Documo.

Does the Jane fax route come with a BAA?

None of Jane's 14 Documo guides mentions HIPAA or a BAA. Jane's Integrations Hub guide and its directory listing call Documo HIPAA-compliant without naming a BAA. Jane's separate HIPAA guide makes signing a BAA with software vendors item 7 on its Top 10 To-Do List. Jane's Terms of Use, updated July 2026, say Jane will sign its own standard BAA on request with a subscriber subject to HIPAA, and add that integrations with third-party services may carry the third party's legal terms too.

Documo's security page says it provides a signed BAA to "every healthcare account, regardless of plan or spend," and its pricing page marks HIPAA compliance and a BAA as included on every plan. Its BAA is a PDF with blanks for the clinic's name, address and signature, and Documo's retail subscription agreement, effective June 26, 2026, brings that BAA in wherever customer data includes protected health information. Documo's page for Jane clinics describes its handling as HIPAA-aligned and does not mention a BAA.

Under 45 CFR 164.502(e), the satisfactory assurances a covered entity obtains from a business associate must be documented in a written contract or other written agreement. Do you need a BAA with your online fax service? explains the rule. Every Fax Pigeon plan includes a signed BAA, executed at signup.

What does a Jane clinic get from Fax Pigeon instead?

One dedicated Fax Pigeon number and one shared inbox serve the whole clinic, with unlimited people at no extra cost. Fax Pigeon runs beside Jane with no integration to maintain: faxes go out from any web browser or from the clinic's email, and every inbound fax arrives with an AI summary. Every plan has the same features and differs only in pages a month and the extra-page rate, both on the pricing page. Shared fax inbox for a small office covers how a team splits the work, and HIPAA compliant fax for physical therapy clinics covers referrals and plans of care.

Who should switch from the Documo license?

  • A clinic with more than 10 people who file faxes. Each Documo user past 10 costs $3.00 a month on the license, and everyone who files from Documo needs a profile of their own. Unlimited people share one inbox at Fax Pigeon at no extra cost.
  • A clinic that sends and receives 500 pages a month or fewer. Standard covers 500 pages for $9.99 and Basic covers 200 for $4.99, both billed annually, against the license's $15 USD.
  • A clinic that wants the BAA signed on the day it signs up. Every Fax Pigeon plan includes one, executed at signup.
  • A clinic whose fax number lives on the Documo account. Porting in is free on every paid plan, and the number keeps working at Documo until the transfer lands, as Port your fax number before you cancel sets out. Unplugging Documo in Jane leaves the license running, so cancelling is a separate step in the Documo portal.

* Prices last verified October 7, 2026, at each provider's own site. Jane's pricing page, license terms and Terms of Use were read October 11, 2026, as were Documo's BAA pages. Fax Pigeon is not affiliated with Jane App, Jane Software Inc. or Documo.
